The International Education Exchange Council (IEEC) is the large student organization at SF State who opportunities for everyone based upon your interests.
IEEC is also the best preparation for studying abroad, as you can connect with students all around the world. Make friends with students in the country where you want to study and you will have a network before you arrive. Also, network with students elsewhere. For example, a former study abroad student made friends all over Europe before her year in Italy and had friends she could visit and stay with throughout Europe.
